The east part of the township is laid out in a grid of Concessions 1 to 15 running northward, and Lots 1 to 12 running eastward. The west part of the township is laid out in a grid of Concessions 1 to 12 running northward, and Lots 1 to 18 running westward. These twelve concessions are divided into sections east- and west- of Division Line Road. With waterfront Ranges above and below the Town of Port Albert.
The east part of the township is laid out in a grid of Concessions 1 to 14 running northward, and Lots 1 to 16 running eastward. The west part of the township is laid out in a grid of Concessions 1 to 14 running northward, and Lots 1 to 11 running westward. These twelve fourteen are divided into sections east- and west- of (modern-day) Lucknow Line Road. With waterfront Ranges on each side of the Lake Road, of 19 Lots running northward.
The township is largely laid out in a grid of Concessions 1 to 11 running eastward, and Lots 1 to 41 running southward. The north boundary of Goderich follows the Maitland River, and the south boundary follows the Bayfield River. Along these entire riverfronts, lay river Ranges. The Maitland Concession follows the Maitland River from northeast, to south, to northwest (Lots 58 to 107) and the Bayfield Concession follows the Bayfield River eastward (Lots 1 to 28). Additionally there are Concessions A and C as extensions of the town of Goderich.

Two Concessions at the top and bottom of the township grid seem to overlap (and may be differently numbered), called the North Boundary and the South Boundary. North of the Town of Grand Bend are four Concessions of 7 Lots each – running eastward from Lake Huron… two are concessions east- and west of the Lake Road, followed by Concessions A and B. South of the Town of Grand Bend, and east of the River Sable, is the Sable Concession.
The township is largely laid out in a grid of Concessions 1 to 15 running southward, and Lots 1 to 43 running westward. Along the west boundary with Stanley Township is one Concession east- of, and two Concessions west- of the Division Line Road.

Across the township on the east border with Howick Township, is Concession C of 34 Lots heading south-eastward.

Overlapping the original grid, there are Concessions north- and south- of the Thames Road, of 21- and 27- Lots, running eastward. Also overlapping is the North East Block along the boundary with Hibbert Twp. with Lots 12 to 30 running to the north-west. Likewise there is a South East Block along the boundary with Blanshard Twp. with Lots 1 to 22 running to the south-west. The remaining triangular block at the south point of the township at the boundary with Biddulph Twp., has Lots individually identified by letters A to G.
